Good value for a first lens

I was looking for an affordable manual lens to try out, and the ArtraLab Daguerre 35mm f/2 caught my eye. I signed up for their newsletter and got a 10% off code, which helped a bit. The price was already good, and with the discount, it felt like a solid deal compared to other brands I checked. Shipping wasn't super fast, but it arrived within the estimated window. For the money, I got a lens that's built well and takes interesting photos, so I consider it a worthwhile purchase.

Got a new strap

I bought one of those vintage style camera straps from them. It looked cool online and it is. Felt nice, pretty good quality for what I paid. It shipped pretty quick too, like a week and a half. Overall, it was a good experience.

Love my new lens!

I just got the Nonikkor-MC 35mm f/1.4 lens and I absolutely love it! The images are stunning, so much character and a beautiful rendering. The build quality is fantastic, feels really premium in hand. It arrived much faster than I expected, only about ten days after I ordered it. I'm so happy with this purchase, I'm already looking at what else I can get! Definitely shopping here again!

Decent lens, slow delivery

I ordered the ArtraLab Luna 50mm f/1.1 lens a few weeks ago. The ordering process was straightforward on their website, no issues there. Shipping took about 18 days to the US, which was a bit longer than I hoped, but it did arrive safely. The lens itself is pretty good for the price. Build quality feels solid, and the manual focus ring is smooth. Images have that nice vintage look I was after. I did have a question about a slight rattling sound when I shook the lens, and their customer support replied within 24 hours, explaining it was normal for the floating elements. It's a usable lens, but managing expectations on delivery time is key.

Do these lenses work with Sony E-mount cameras? I have an A7III and really like the look of their 24mm.

P Priya 2 months ago
Yep, they definitely work with E-mount. You'll need their M-mount to E-mount adapter if the lens is M-mount though, but they sell those.

Yeah, a lot of their lenses are M-mount and then you just get the adapter for your Sony. They're manual focus only, just so you know.

Are these Artralab lenses legit? Like, are they actually good quality or just another cheap knockoff trying to look vintage?

C Colin Torres 2 months ago
They're totally legit, they make their own stuff. I have the Daguerre 35mm and it's built like a tank, great optics too.

Not a knockoff at all. They're a real brand from Hong Kong, similar to 7Artisans or TTArtisan but with their own vibe. Good quality for the price.

How's the return process if something goes wrong or I just don't like it? Hope it's not a pain shipping back to HK.

N Noor Kaur 2 months ago
I had to return a lens hood once, it was pretty straightforward. Just follow their instructions.

Returns are decent. You usually have 14 days after delivery to decide, and you'll need to contact them for an RMA. Shipping it back might be on you, but they're not super difficult to deal with.

Thinking about the Nonikkor-MC 35mm f/1.4. Anyone have experience with this compared to something like a Voigtlander? Worth the price difference?

R Renee Bennett 2 months ago
The Artralab Nonikkor is great for the vintage look. Voigtlander is usually sharper and more 'perfect' optically, but it depends what aesthetic you're going for. If you want character, Artralab is solid.

Totally different vibes. Voigtlander is often more modern in rendering, even if it's manual focus. The Nonikkors have that classic glow and sometimes more unique aberrations, which I love. For the price, Artralab is a steal if you like the look.

Can I use the first order discount AND a Black Friday code if I wait till then? Trying to save as much as possible on a new lens.

A Alex Silva 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one coupon at a time. They don't stack usually.

N Noor 2 months ago
You can't stack codes there, it says so in their policies afaik. So either the first order or the BF deal, but not both.
